Formed in 1973, the group was started by only eight people, hence the name 'Group Eight'.

The first production was 'Bonaventure'. This ran for two nights and actually made a small profit. Since that time many plays, musicals, pantomimes and cabarets have been performed by the group. Recently because of its diversity it was felt a name change was necessary, so the group is now known as 'The Group Eight Theatre Company'. you can find out more about our previous shows on Our Past Shows Page.

The group has grown over the years with many different members coming and going, we currently have approximately 30 to 40 members of various ages and backgrounds.

The aim of the group is to promote live theatre in the community to the mutual enjoyment of members and audiences alike.

We are a relaxed group, who firmly believe that we must always put on a show to a very high standard to entertain our audience and the best way to do this is to work together and be sure everyone in the group has a fun time.
